MLCF Moves Marvin Lewis Golf Classic to Topgolf West Chester
Cincinnati (For Immediate Release) – The 2017 edition of the Marvin Lewis Golf Classic will move to the new Topgolf West Chester venue for its event on Sunday, May 21. The 14th annual Golf Classic is the largest fundraiser for the Marvin Lewis Community Fund (MLCF), supporting the Fund’s education initiatives, including scholarships and the Learning Is Cool program.
The annual VIP party will be held Saturday, May 20 and will remain at Montgomery Inn Boathouse, where the 2017 Marvin Lewis scholars will be introduced and will receive their scholarship checks.
“This event has been so popular over the last 13 years that we needed a space where we could add even more golfers,” said Barbara Dundee, executive director of MLCF. “Topgolf really lends itself to golfers of all ability levels, so we are excited that both novices and non-golfers can join in the fun and support our mission.”
Topgolf West Chester has three levels of climate-controlled hitting bays that overlook a 215-yard outfield. Each golf ball contains a microchip that electronically tracks the accuracy and distance of each shot. Golf clubs are provided free of charge in every bay, but guests are welcome to bring their own clubs if they prefer. The outfield is marked with giant, dartboard-like targets. The farther the target and the closer to the center of a target a ball lands, the more points a player will earn. Scores will be tracked and, as in past years, Coach Lewis will hand out awards to the top teams.
The Sunday golf schedule will be: Registration from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., with the event to run from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. with the traditional “Welcome to Our Jungle” Post-Play Party and awards ceremony concluding the fundraiser. Bengals coaches and players, former Bengals, NFL players and coaches and local media personalities will join teams of four golfers to compete for prizes.
